Dr. Chase Appleby was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Maryland. His love for animals began at the age of eight, volunteering with dogs at the Washington Animal Rescue League (WARL). He continued to work with WARL, which is now known as Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), for twenty years where he worked his way into the hospital assisting in surgical care of the animals at the shelter.
Chase's love for animals eventually led him to veterinary school where he attended St. George's University and the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He began working as a veterinarian at HRA in 2018, where he primarily performed surgery. He has continued to work in the District of Columbia with a special interest in soft tissue surgery.
His hobbies beyond veterinary medicine include traveling, hiking, and playing video games.
